National Leaders Assembly

Dear Sisters and Brothers, Leaders in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR), both present and aspiring leaders,

Greetings in the Lord!

Today we launch the registration for our National Leaders Assembly which will take place in Sydney from August 11-13. The theme for the conference is SURRENDER TO THE POWER OF PENTECOST.

Let me encourage you to come together with other leaders from across the country as we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us, refresh us and give us new fire for the mission ahead. In 1975, Pope Paul VI, spoke of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal as “a chance for the church”. It’s now forty-seven years since that hope was expressed. Where have we come to and where is the Holy Spirit leading us now?

I would like to make a special appeal to the younger leaders from across the Catholic Charismatic Renewal to come and share in this moment. New leaders, younger leaders, aspiring leaders are an important dimension of the vision for CCR. This is an opportunity to share the experiences with established leaders who have much to share and at the same time much to learn from you as well. St Benedict would always encourage his community to listen to the youngest brother. The CCR needs to hear the voice of young people; it needs the leadership of young people who will stand on the shoulders of many outstanding leaders whom the Holy Spirit has raised up around this nation.

I am grateful to the Servants of Jesus Community who have generously offered to host our gathering. We will be drawing speakers from across the country to come and share what God is doing.
